Driving Directions
A stunning trail skirts the eastern perimeter of Lake Emma towards a historic hut which is a perfect lunch stop. Whilst it may seem tempting to attempt a loop walk of the lake, a large section of swamp on the western side makes this idea unwise.
In winter, the access road to the Lake Emma Carpark may be too muddy to drive through. If this is the case, simply walk through from Hakatere Potts Road. There is also alternate walking and cycling access to the Lake Emma Hut from Lake Camp via a 4WD track.
Mountain biking is also a possibility in the dryer months of the year or all year round for those unfazed by dense mud.
